Core Power Review and Giveaway (Blog Hop)!

It is my birthday today (May 9th!) and I decided to review and giveaway some Core Power. Earlier this year Core Power sent me a fit kit and some Core Power to review!

They sent me this wonderful duffel bag, a Core Power towel, yoga mat, stability ball, water bottle, and SAMPLES!! Core Power has original drinks and light drinks. The original Core Power drinks come in these flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, and Banana.
Nutrition Facts for Core Power Banana Flavor
The light Core Power comes in these flavors:Chocolate and Strawberry.
Nutrition Facts for Core Power Chocolate Light
Core Power is a post workout recovery drink that contains real, natural milk protein. It comes ready to drink, without needing to add powder, water, or any additives.

I got to try Chocolate, Chocolate - Light, Strawberry - Light, and Banana!

Pros
  • It comes ready to drink! I just put it in the fridge and drink it after my workout
  • It doesn't have to be refrigerated until it is opened (Though I like to drink mine cold)
  • The taste is AMAZING!
  • No powdery aftertaste
  • It is lactose-free, so I don't have any stomach problems after drinking it.
  • A GREAT source of protein, with a good carb/protein ratio to promote muscle recovery after workouts
Cons
  • They do tend to be on the more expensive side, but they are available on amazon (with free shipping for prime members)
  • They don't have a light version for the banana flavor (which is my favorite)
Overall Core Power is great. They have a nice variety of flavors. The strawberry tastes like strawberry Quik (Nesquik), or the strawberry milk that you could get at lunchtime at school. The chocolate and the chocolate light taste like your average chocolate milk, but with the benefits of more protein! The banana flavor is by far my favorite (which is really odd for me, since I am not big into bananas).

I love the fact that the Core Power come ready to drink. No mixer cups, or blenders necessary! Plus you never get that chalky taste that come with your average powder protein drinks.

Overall, Core Power gets my stamp of approval! Enter below to get a sample of Core Power and then hop on over to the other giveaways in the Linky below!

Disclosure : Core Power provided me with the samples free of charge for review. My opinions are my own.

Spartan Sprint Race Volunteering Recap!

Note: I did run the race with my awesome boyfriend. The only nickname he has is the Ninja, so that is what I will be calling him. FYI he is called that because he is so light on his feet.

Volunteering!

So for people who haven't ever volunteered for race before, sometimes you get to run the race for free if you so wish and you always get the great feeling of cheering on other people as they race.

So the Ninja and I  volunteered for the shorter shift, 6 hours, on Saturday since we were racing the next day. Originally we were going to help out in the registration tent, but they needed us more at the obstacles on the course.

We ended up at the finish line right after the final mud pit where the wall of fire was. It was an amazing and rewarding experience. The wall of fire is a two foot tall pile of wood that is on fire. The race participates jump over the wall of fire then fight three gladiators in the gladiator pit then they cross the finish line!

Cheering and helping people cross the wall of fire was empowering. There were people who had been on the course for more than 7 hours crossing the finish line in tears and smiling. I thought that I would include some tips for people interested in volunteering.

Tips
  • Wear sunscreen if you are going to be in the sun
  • Wear sunglasses
  • Bring a noise makers, kettle bell, or be prepared to clap and cheer
  • Wear comfortable shoes (Or in my case the shoes I was racing in since they got muddy)
  • Bring water and some food
  • Bring a good ATTITUDE! You are cheering on these people and being supportive really makes a difference in someone's race.
  • Be prepared to offer assistance, especially in an obstacle race. Sometimes people can't make it through an obstacle without a helping hand, so just being there to help when necessary is a good thing to know ahead of time
  • Have fun!
The race recap should be up sometime tomorrow! Have you every volunteered for a race? Did you like it?

What is your “why” for being active in fitness?

So I was filling out an application for an ambassador program and I kind of went overboard with my response. So I shortened my response and saved the long post for you guys. This is the origin story of my love for fitness!
One day last year I looked into the mirror and decided that where I was physically was not a good place to be, I was a 20 year old and I weighed 260 pounds. It shocked me how unhealthy I was and all I had to do was make a choice to change that. I decided to start to eliminate junk food and processed food and start to replace it with more fruits, vegetables, and clean food. I also found a passion in running and that has since lead me to lifting. I have kept to my plan and have since lost 50 pounds!
Lisa and I started this page to create an open, safe environment for everyone to be honest and have a support. I just wanted to share a little bit about my fitness journey. If you are out there running, lifting, being active that is AMAZING! If you are running, even if it is a mixture of walking and running like me, you are a runner! If you have reached the point where you run without walking, like Lisa, YOU are a runner! Whether you are lifting 5 pounds or 50 you are getting out there and that is what matters. I want to make this place a safe place for everyone, beginners and veterans in the fitness world. I will post about my fitness life but I want to make sure that everyone is welcome to our page.

Please post about your fitness accomplishments, achievements, journey, and pictures! We really want to get to know more of our followers. And please like this post so more of our followers can see this post! We <3 everyone!
