English Sombrero Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
The English Sombrero is a book that follows Don Simmons as he makes his journey into the running world. He went from selling cars to taking a year off of his day job to start running.

This book is hilarious and a great read! I read it before bed and it was hard to put done.

As someone who has struggled with weight issues all my life this book spoke to me. Everyday you just have to get up and get out there just as Don did. I personally don't smoke but Don struggled with this as well and if you are looking for a motivational book where someone faces the same struggles as you this book is for you! It can be hard to keep up with your journey as you face road blocks but you need to keep with it.

Be sure to check out this book when you have a chance. The comedy, motivation, and inspiration will help you out.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

AWW! It is 2014 ALREADY!

The New Year is here already! Wow I can't believe it. I feel like it was just yesterday that it was the start of 2013! So in this blog post I just wanted to talk a little bit about my goals for the year. I don't want to call them resolutions because those don't tend to stick well with me. So here goes nothing!

Running Goals of 2014

So I want to run 14 races in 2014! right now here is our list:

Hot Chocolate 5k - January 26
Spartan Race - March 8
Race Through the Decades 7k - March 15
Dirty Girl 5k - April 12
5k Foam Fest - April 26
Zombie 5k - May 24
Dragon Con Fun Run 5k - August 30
Run Like a Dive 5k - September 6
Down and Dirty Mud Run - October 12
Esprit de She - November 6

So we still need to fit in at least 4 more races into this schedule. Anyone in the Atlanta area have any recommendations? So other than fitting in a few more races that goal seems pretty manageable! Other than 14 races in 2014 my second goal for running this year is to run at least 6 miles a week. Yea I know, I know, not too bad. I usually get in at least 5k at a time so twice a week, but having this goal will make sure that I at least stick to running to at least twice a week even when work and school get the better of me! :D

General Health/Fitness Goals for 2014

So if you have been following our page you know that we have ALREADY started P90X3! It has been pretty great! I felt sore in the beginning but since we are going into the third week already the soreness  has started to go away! So my goal is to get through the 90 days,  then to do it again! This is my first Beachbody purchase so I really want to use it and so far I am LOVING it!  I have lost 10 pounds already and I already feel muscles developing.

Goal number two for general health is clean eating! So far Lisa and I have cut out all junk food. We are planning to start cooking more foods and eating more fruits and vegetables! We will be posting some recipes and pictures on the blog and on the Facebook page as well. With this goal comes something that is really hard for me, cutting down on drinking diet coke. Diet coke is my go to drink when I get stressed or upset so now I need to transfer those feels towards exercise and stop drinking 6 diet cokes a day. Right now my goal is 2 diet cokes maximum, and by the end of February cut diet coke out of my diet completely.

What goals do you have for 2014? Do you write them down on paper? Tell friends about them? Do you make New Year's Resolutions? What are your plans for the new year?

Stay tuned we have a giveaway coming up in our next post on January 17!
